Researching up a storm

In Room 13 over the last few days we have been gathering information and preparing vocabulary to help us in our Music report that we started after the amazing performance by Adam Page. With the help of a pod of iPads today we researched the history of music and quotes about music from famous people.

Some of our favourite pieces of information:

  • Electric guitars debuted in 1936
  • The word Music comes from the Greek word "Mousiki" which means the science of composing melodies
  • Elvis Presley died at the age of 42 in Graceland 1977
  • An electric guitar uses a pickup to change the vibration of the guitar into sound
  • The first studies of Western Musical history date back to the middle of the 18th Century
  • Apple computer introduced Apple iTunes Music store which allows people to download songs for 99cents in 2003
  • 1970 The Beatles break up and release solo albums
  • MTV goes on the air running around the clock Music Videos debuting "Video killed the radio star"

Some of our favourite quotes:
