Syndicate Assembly Week 11

New student
·      Welcome to Sasha, who is a new student in Room 11.

Best Syndicate Award
·      Well done to those from our syndicate that were noticed for doing ‘the right thing’ during assembly on Friday and therefore earned the Y5/6’s an extra 10 minutes play today.
·      Unfortunately there were a few students who let themselves, their class and the syndicate down in assembly BUT gratefully it didn’t impact all of the good work by most of the Y5/6 students.

TAKE NOTE:
“You are the older students on this side of the school, so the expectations are high” (Mr. Bird)

REMEMBER:
Make good choices!
“A true hero is not someone who thinks about doing what is right, but one that simply does what is right without thinking!”
(Kevin Heath - Ceo More4kids)

Sport
·      Cricket:
Congratulations to the Y5/6 boys team on their win against Dyer Street School on Thursday.   It was also good to see all of the support for team at lunchtime.  The Y5/6 girl’s team will play their game against Dyer Street School on Thursday; practices will be on Tuesday and Wednesday.
·      Hockey:
If there is anyone who is interested in playing Saturday morning hockey, please see Mr. McMillan ASAP.  The competition begins in May (Term 2).
·      Table Tennis:
We are in need of a table tennis table so that we can run a tournament and trails for the Y5/6 teams to compete in a zone competition.

Library Award
·      Congratulations to Georgia Barrand for receiving the library silver award and for being the top Y5/6 student for the library.

ANZAC Day
·      If you are going to be in Eastbourne on the 25th April (ANZAC day) it would be great if you could be a part of the Haka and/or singing groups to perform during the ANZAC service.

Good Sorts

Every Sunday on TV ONE News at 6pm they have a segment called Good Sorts, which celebrates the good in every community. To see some TV1 examples go to http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/one-good-sorts-2672527You can also nominate people who you think have done something good in the community and deserve some recognition.

Room 13 decided to create our own fictional 'good sorts'. Check out our creative pieces:

·      Girls: Game next Thursday v Dyer Street School @ 12pm @ Muritai School
(Training will be on Friday)

Teasing Issues
·      It has come to our attention that there have been a few instances of students being ‘teased’ about ‘boyfriends and girlfriends’.   This MUST stop and if there are any more issues surrounding this, further steps will be taken which may include speaking with parents.

Corridor noise
·      We need to remember to show our RESPECT for the students and their learning in the classrooms downstairs by moving around the corridor quietly.

Trees and field
·      There has been another incident on the field where a tree branch has been broken off.   RESPECT our environment by looking after our trees in and around the playground.

Photo Wall
·      There have been a few photos that have been ripped or scratched.  The photo wall is for looking at; it is a celebration wall of photos from camp, let’s look after it!

Responsibility
·      Make sure that when you are given a responsibility for something that needs you leave the class, do it with COMMON SENSE and CONSIDERATION for others.
